Rice Italian Students in Houston

Rice University’s Italian Language and Culture Program is not only strong on-campus but also in the community.

Please check out some of the things Rice University’s Italian Program is doing around the city.

Donne di domani (The Women of Tomorrow)

The Donne di domani granted $5,000 worth of study abroad scholarships to four students studying Italian during the 2010-2011 academic year.  As a small measure of our appreciation, these students along with their friends assisted these marvelous ladies in ‘dressing’ the jars of sauce.  The event was a huge success for all who participated.  To learn more about this famous Houstian sauce, please click on the title and you will be forwarded to a recent article from the Houston Chronicle.

Festa Italiana hosted by the Italian Cultural and Community Center

Rice University Italian Students from the Intermediate and Advanced classes will be teaching grade school children about the Italian Language and Culture this year at Festa Italiana.   Below is a description of the event.

Children’s Italian Culture Class: Passport Italy
Join Rice University students in a journey throughout Italy. Participants will be exposed to Italian Language and Culture through diverse activities representative of major Italy cities. After passing through dogana (customs) and receiving a passport, students will experience some of Italy’s treasured cities: Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples, and Palermo. NOTE: This event will be held on the Taste of Italy Pavilion Stage
